Welcome your guests with a royal flourish

Field Gun Sport is offering weddings and other services available for booking with the form below

A 21 gun salute is a traditional way to honour royalty and heads of state; your guests can have the same to make their special day.

You can have a salute fired by a battery of 3 guns. Each gun will be served by 2 crew and the battery will be commanded by a bugler and officer. At a time of your choosing the bugler will report to you and ask your permission to fire the salute. Your guest can choose the exact words but something like:

"Good afternoon and congratulations on your marriage Ma'am, Sir. May I have your permission to bring the battery to readiness and fire the the salute please?"

The bugler will march off to one side and sound the alert. The Battery Commander will acknowledge by marching the crews to their guns. The 3 guns will each fire 7 rounds; one every 4 seconds. On completion of the salute the battery commander will raise his cap to signal ‘rounds complete’. The bugler will then ask the happy couple for permission to carry on.

In addition to the salute the guns can fire a joi du feu which is also used to mark celebration days.

In artillery regiments the guns are traditionally regarded as the colours of the regiment and so are always immaculate and so will be the guns and their crews firing on the day. After the guns have fired they can be positioned for photographs with or without the crews. The crew can be liveried in either traditional military  ‘blues’ or navy whites.

The guns make the same noise and smoke as the starting gun used in yachting. The guns will be positioned to create a spectacle without posing any hazard to the guests or staff taking into account the prevailing wind and the sun.
